Hi there! I am Laura, an adult ballet dancer living in Finland - professionally, a linguist, language teacher and translator.
At age 19, I moved from Italy to Germany to study at the University of Greifswald, where I earned an MA in English, German and Swedish Philology. I eventually moved to Finland, where I now work as a language teacher.
After leaving ballet in my childhood, I found my way back to the barre at age 25 in Finland. It was 2021 and I decided to enroll at the Raija Lehmussaari Ballet School in Turku. After years away from ballet, stepping back into the ballet studio simply felt like coming home.
The following year, I moved to Helsinki where I continued my journey through the world of dance and fitness. I studied at various schools, experienced the joy of a ballet performance, fulfilled my dream of learning pointe work, and finally decided to start ballet blogging. Despite it not being my profession, ballet has ever since become a meaningful and pleasant part of my daily life.
I created Laurel on Pointe to merge two of my greatest passions — writing and ballet — and to share bits of this ongoing journey. I hope you’ll find inspiration in here, and motivation to embrace your passions at any stage of your life.
Welcome to Laurel on Pointe!
