Hej! Moi! Hi there!
I am Laura - linguist, translator, and lifelong lover of the arts.

I was born in Southern Italy and moved to Germany at age 19 to pursue studies in German philology. After earning an MA in English, German, and Scandinavian Philology (Swedish, Danish) from the University of Greifswald, I moved to Finland. I currently teach English at a Swedish-speaking school in Helsinki and work as an interpreter from Finnish into English.

I am also a member of several professional associations, including the Nordic Editors and Translators Association (NEaT), the Chartered Institute of Linguists (CIOL), and the Finnish-British Institute (Finnbrit), where I currently host a book club on Gothic literature.

Beyond languages, I am deeply passionate about photography and the visual arts. Ballet, in particular, has been a constant thread in my life. After years of classical training, I discovered modeling and ballet photography as creative outlets to explore movement and self-expression.

Since 2024, I have curated the blog laurel on pointe, a space where I bring together all my passions and share reflections on traveling, languages, and the world of ballet.
